What is a Medicare Advantage plan?

Make sure you know what benefits are included in your Medicare Advantage Plan.

What Is The Difference Between Supplement & Advantage?

Medicare Advantage bundles Original Medicare Parts A and B into one plan and usually includes Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. Some Medicare Advantage plans may also offer extra benefits, such as routine dental, vision and hearing services.

A Medicare Supplement plan, also called Medigap, isn’t bundled with anything—it’s extra coverage you can buy to help pay the out-of-pocket expenses Original Medicare doesn’t pay.

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible For Medicare?

Generally, Medicare is for people 65 or older. You may be able to get Medicare earlier if you have a disability, End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant), or ALS (also called Lou Gehrig’s disease).

What If I Have Medicaid?

People who have both Medicare and full Medicaid coverage are “dually eligible.” Medicare pays first when you’re a dual eligible and you get Medicare-covered services. Medicaid pays last, after Medicare and any other health insurance you have. If you're dually eligible, Medicare covers your prescription drugs. You’ll automatically be enrolled in a Medicare drug plan that will cover your drug costs instead of Medicaid. Medicaid may still cover some drugs that Medicare doesn’t cover. You can still pick how you want to get your Medicare coverage: Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage (Part C).
